Old Bottles

When you live out in the country, you find all kinds of things. These are just a few old bottles that we came across while going for a walk one evening.

A diamond-shaped bottle bearing the script Duraglas name and the O-I logo (Owens-Illinois Glass Company). The style of the logo makes us think this bottle probably came from the late-1950s onward. The numbers listed are 7, 8 and 8. We're not sure of what kind of product came in this bottle but we're guessing some kind of food.

Bottom of the Lavoris bottle. The numbers listed are 12, 5, and 2. The shape is similar to that offered by Lavoris in 1948, which coincides with the diamond O-I logo (Owens-Illinois Glass Company), which was made by Owens-Illinois from 1940 until the late-1950s.

Bottom of a bottle from the Purity Bottling Company in Middleport, PA. The codes listed are R84 47. This bottle shape is very similar to those from of the Crystal Bottling Works in East Mahanoy Junction, PA, which was only a few miles away. The Crystal Bottling bottle has a "cracked" texture while Purity went with the bubble rows.
